Hori to Offer Dragon Quest Slime Keyboard
posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
Video game accessory developer Hori announced on Friday that it will release a new "Dragon Quest Slime Keyboard" on August 2. Designed to be paired with the Dragon Quest X: Mezameshi Itsutsu no Shuzoku Online game for the Nintendo Wii and Wii U, the keyboard will offer players an easier way to chat with other players in the game. Dragon Quest X is the first online game in Square Enix's series.
The keyboard features Slime, a recurring mascot monster from the franchise. The official licensed peripheral will retail for 3,980 yen (about US$51) and include 12 miniature Slime figures on its function key. All of the keys are printed with a pixelated dot font in homage to the in-game text. The USB keyboard can also be used with a standard PC. Orders will also include a limited number of item codes for in-game bonuses such as experience increases and gold.
Hori previously sold stackable slime Tower Speakers last year.
Square Enix's Dragon Quest X will feature multiple races — human, ogre, weddie, elf, dwarf, and pukuripo — from which each player can create more than one characters. A promo video last month confirmed the Wii version's Japanese release date as August 2.
