posted on by Jennifer Sherman
Namco Bandai Games has opened a website for Gon: Baku Baku Baku Baku Adventure, its upcoming Nintendo 3DS game based on Masashi Tanaka's original manga and upcoming television series. The single-player action game will be released on June 14 for 5,040 yen (about US$60). The website currently features five screens from the game.
The Gon CG-animated television series will premiere on April 2, and is planned to run for 50 episodes. The series will star Motoko Kumai as Gon, and Kenyuu Horiuchi and Yūji Mitsuya will voice the orange dinosaur's friends.
The Korean-Japanese co-production will be directed, designed, and animated in Korea, with director Kim Gil-Tae and character designer Noh Hyun-Min working with Daewon Media to adapt Masashi Tanaka's original manga. Daewon Media and Kodansha are both listed as producers for the series.
The manga debuted in Kodansha's Morning magazine in 1991 and was compiled into volumes starting in 1992. Paradox Press originally published the manga in North America, but DC Comics' CMX Manga later picked up the license and republished it from the beginning in a format more faithful to the original Japanese version. Kodansha Comics is currently republishing the series.
