posted on by Ko Ransom
It was announced on Saturday that the actor Takuya will play the role of Rui Kiryuuin in the upcoming live-action film adaptation of Mayu Shinjo's Ai Ore! Love Me! (Ai o Utau yori Ore ni Oborero!). The role will be Takuya's feature film debut, though he has previously made appearances in television programs such as the drama Sign, as well as the KBS World program Music Bank. Kiryuuin, Takuya's character in the film, is the energetic and playful student council vice-president of the series' Dankaisan High School.
DGNA Korean pop group member Karam and actress Ito Ōno were previously announced as playing the two lead roles of the series, Akira Shiraishi and Mizuki Sakurazaka, respectively. The film was first announced in July of last year, and Viz has licensed both Ai Ore manga series for English release.
The manga centers around two teenagers: Mizuki, the female “prince” of her all-girls school and the lead guitarist in an all-girl rock band, and Akira, the male “princess” of his all-boys school. Akira want to join Mizuki's band Blaue Rosen when the band's lead singer moves overseas, but first he has to overcome Mizuki's suspicious misgivings.
