Evangelion's Sadamoto Designs Momoiro Clover Z Idols' Costumes
posted on by Egan Loo
Yoshiyuki Sadamoto, the character designer known for Evangelion, FLCL, and other anime, drafted the pirate-inspired costumes that the idol group Momoiro Clover Z wears for the new song "Mōretsu Uchū Kōkyōkyoku - Dai-Shichi Gakushō' Mugen no Ai'" (Extreme Space Symphony's Movement VII "Infinite Love"). The five female members contributed the song as the opening theme for the Bodacious Space Pirates (Mōretsu Pirates) television anime series.
Sadamoto drew the rough designs for the costumes, the first time he has done such an assignment. A regular costume designer then recreated the designs in real life. The Natalie website posted a special feature on the group and unveiled Sadamoto's rough designs for the first time in public.
The official website for the group is streaming the song's music video:
Crunchyroll is streaming Bodacious Space Pirates into several countries as it airs in Japan, and Sentai Filmworks licensed the series for North America.
