Laputa Art Director Yamamoto Works on Etrian Odyssey IV RPG
posted on by Jennifer Sherman
The art director Nizo Yamamoto (Laputa: Castle in the Sky, Princess Mononoke, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time) will be responsible for creating background art for Atlus' Etrian Odyssey IV: The Legendary God dungeon role-playing game. The Nintendo 3DS game will ship in Japan on July 5 as the sequel to Etrian Odyssey III: The Drowned City, the third Etrian Odyssey series game that shipped for the Nintendo DS in 2010.
Enterbrain's Famitsu website began streaming the game's first two-minute promotional video on Tuesday. The video's narrator is Rumi Hiiragi, the voice actress who starred as Chihiro in Studio Ghibli's Spirited Away. The video highlights the game's seven character classes: Swordman, Medic, Fortress, NightSeeker, Dancer, Sniper, and RuneMaster.
In the game, players control a party of characters who travel across the world in a flying vessel in order to discover the truth about Yggdrasil, the world tree. Players will be able to explore and map both the outside world as well as the game's signature dungeons. It will also newly feature a "casual" mode for beginning players, as well as music originally performed by live instruments.
Etrian Odyssey IV: The Legendary God will cost 6,279 yen (about US$77), and people who pre-order the game will receive a bonus soundtrack CD with booklet.
