Cardfight!! Vanguard Game Gets Live-Action Show with DAIGO (Updated)
posted on by Egan Loo
The Japanese game maker Bushiroad announced during its streamed Vanguard Special Conference on Tuesday that a live-action television adaptation of its Cardfight!! Vanguard trading card game has been green-lit. BREAKERZ band musician DAIGO will star in this project, which will air on May 3, Japan's Constiution Memorial Day, from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. Takashi Motoki (Mōsō Deka!) is directing this project, which is described as the "first(?) ever live-action card-game" program.
The card game is a collaboration between Yu-Gi-Oh! R manga creator Akira Itō, the original Duel Masters technical advisor Satoshi Nakamura, and Bushiroad President Takaaki Kidani. The game already inspired a television anime series in 2011, and Crunchyroll has been streaming it into several countries as it airs in Japan. The second series, Cardfight!! Vanguard: Asia Circuit Hen, will premiere this year.
