It was announced on Monday that the opening theme to the anime adaptation of Kenji Taira's Naruto spinoff manga Rock Lee no Seishun Full-Power Ninden will be "Give Lee Give Lee Rock Lee" a collaborative track featuring both ANIMETAL USA and Hironobu Kageyama. The single for the song will be released on April 25, the same month as the anime series, which begins on the 3rd. The jacket for the single features characters from the series wearing clothes and makeup similar to the heavy metal outfits worn by ANIMETAL USA.
ANIMETAL USA is a Japan-based heavy metal band formed in 2011 that specializes in playing anime-related songs and consists of North American heavy metal artists including vocalist Mike Vescera (Obsession, Loudness), bassist Rudy Sarzo (Blue Oyster Cult, Whitesnake, Dio), drummer Scott Travis (Judas Priest), guitarist Chris Impellitteri (Impellitteri), and arranger Marty Friedman (Megadeth). Kageyama is known for his many songs that have been featured in anime including Dragon Ball Z and Saint Seiya, as well as for his involvement with the vocal group JAM Project, which he is the current leader of. JAM Project and ANIMETAL USA also recently announced that they will be touring Japan together.
