Bodacious Space Pirates Gives Princess Serenity Odango Hair
posted on by Egan Loo
This week's episode of the Bodacious Space Pirates television anime series introduced Princess Gruier Serenity — a nod to another anime Princess Serenity, complete with odango (Japanese dumpling) hair. Gruier Serenity appeared in Yūichi Sasamoto's original Mini-Skirt Uchū Kaizoku (Mini-Skirt [Space] Pirates) novels, but the anime gave her blond hair in twin buns reminiscent of Sailor Moon's title character.
In both the anime and the novels that it adapts, the story centers around a high school girl named Marika who is given the command of her father's space pirate ship. Crunchyroll has been streaming the anime into several countries as it airs in Japan, and Sentai Filmworks licensed it for home video release in North America.
