Soulcalibur V Team Explains Why Natsu Replaced Taki
posted on by Justin Sevakis
Namco has posted a five-minute interview video on YouTube with development group "Project Soul" Director Daishi Odashima and producer Hisaharu Tago. The two explain their character choices for the game, which takes place 17 years after the previous installment of the franchise.
The two explain that a timeframe of 17 years allowed them to keep some characters while introducing new ones. Two notable new ones are Patroklos and Pyrrha, the son and daughter of Sophitia. However Odashima decided that Taki would likely be too old to continue life as a ninja, and would have retired to be a trainer for younger ninja such as the new character Natsu.
Soulcalibur V was released in a standard and limited edition packages for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles in North America on Tuesday. It will ship on February 2 in Japan and February 3 in Europe. The company released several trailers for the game in recent weeks.
