Saboten Con announced on Wednesday that the Silent Hill game series composer Akira Yamaoka will appear at Saboten Con 2012. The event will take place at the Renaissance Glendale Hotel in Pheonix, Arizona from September 1 to 3.
Yamaoka joined Konami in 1993 after working as a freelance composer. He created most of the music and sound effects for the Silent Hill survival horror game series, including the 2009 game Silent Hill: Shattered Memories. He also became a producer for the franchise with its third installment, Silent Hill 3.
The composer's other projects include the Silent Hill and Silent Hill: Revelation 3D live-action film adaptations and Konami's Bemani music video games. Yamaoka worked with Namco Bandai Games last year to remix the music from the four-part Evangelion remake film series and create a soundtrack for the PSP rhythm game Evangelion: Sound Impact. Voice actress and singer Mary Elizabeth McGlynn and song writer Joe Romersa have collaborated with Yamaoka on vocal compositions.
McGlynn and fellow voice actors Troy Baker and Phil LaMarr will also attend Saboten Con as guests this year. McGlynn has voice acted for anime including Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, and Cowboy Bebop. Baker has performed roles in Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, Trinity Blood, and Basilisk. Phil LaMarr played the teenage Afro in the Afro Samurai television anime series and Afro Samurai: Resurrection film.
