Giant Hatsune Miku Mosaic to Rise at Wonder Festival
posted on by Jennifer Sherman
The hobby goods makers Good Smile Company and Max Factory will collaborate to raise a giant Hatsune Miku mosaic at this winter's Wonder Festival event. The Vocaloid idol art will support Great Eastern Japan Earthquake (Higashi Nihon Daishinsai) disaster recovery efforts.
The mosaic will be made of images of Crypton Future Media's Vocaloid figures in personalized poses. People can submit a picture online to contribute, and the final artwork will be projected at the event's "Wonderful Hobby Life for You!!" 15 booth. Each picture requires a 100-yen (about US$1.30) donation, and a maximum of 10,000 images will create the mosaic. The submission web page opened on Wednesday, and it will accept contributions until the day of the event.
The Great Eastern Japan Earthquake recovery aid charity Cheerful Japan! is also participating in the project. The Good Smile Company has teamed up with the Cheerful Japan! campaign to release several charity figures, including the "figma Hatsune Miku Support ver." and "Nendoroid Hatsune Miku: Support ver." figures.
Wonder Festival 2012 [Winter] will take place in Chiba's Makuhari Messe convention center on February 12. Sega will sell Hatsune Miku punching balloons at the event, and The Time of Eve and Sakasama no Patema anime creator Yasuhiro Yoshiura will also appear.
