Chin Soon Sun, the community manager for Tecmo KOEI, revealed on his Twitter account on Tuesday that Warriors Orochi 3 will get a Western release on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Sun added that a formal press release will be issued later this week regarding the news.
Koei Tecmo Games announced the game, titled Musou Orochi 2 in Japan, in September. The game features more than 120 characters from the Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors game franchises, original characters from the Musou Orochi franchise, as well as characters from outside the Musou series, including Dead or Alive's Ayane, Zill O'll's Nemea, Ninja Gaiden's Ryu Hayabusa, Troy Musou's Achilleus, and Blade Storm's Jeanne d'Arc.
Koei Tecmo Games released Musou Orochi 2 on December 22. The game sold more than 200,000 copies in its first week of sales.
The original Warriors Orochi game was released on the PlayStation 2 and Xbox 360 worldwide in 2007, and a version for the PlayStation Portable was released worldwide in 2008. A sequel, Musou Orochi Maou Sairin (released in English as Warriors Orochi 2), was released in Japan, North America, and Europe for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox 360 in 2008. A PlayStation Portable version was released in Japan in 2008 and in North America and Europe in 2009.
