The makers of Sony's Doko Demo Issyo video game series and Shaft and Aniplex's Puella Magi Madoka Magica anime are partnering to release a plush version of Sony's Toro Inoue mascot cat cosplaying as the science fiction anime's Kyubey. A similar cosplaying version of Kuro, Toro's black cat neighbor, will also be sold. The collaboration celebrates the March 15, 2012 release of the Puella Magi Madoka Magica Portable adventure/dungeon role-playing PSP game.
Both plush cats will be 45 centimeters tall. The retail price of Toro alone will be 1,200 yen (about US$15), and a set of both characters will cost 2,680 yen (about US$35) at retail price. The Kyubey-cosplaying Sony plushes will be available next March.
Toro has appeared in Sony's Doko Demo Issyo (Together Everywhere) video games since 1999, and Kuro's first appearance was in the Mainichi Issho (Everyday together) PlayStation 3 video game in 2006.
Kyubey is a mysterious creature in the Puella Magi Madoka Magica television anime series who has the power to grant wishes. He forms contracts with girls and transforms them into magical girls who combat witches.
