posted on by Egan Loo
Akitarō Daichi, the acclaimed director of Fruits Basket, Kodomo no Omocha (Kodocha), Prince Mackaroo, and Now and Then, Here and There, will helm the previously announced television anime adaptation of Rū Tatuki's four-panel manga Poyopoyo Kansatsu Nikki. The series of six-minute shorts will premiere on the TV Tokyo station at 7:24 a.m. on January 8, 2012.
Rū Tatuki's original slice-of-life manga centers around a mysterious "spherical cat" named Poyo, its family, and the people in Poyo's everyday life.
Tatuki launched the manga in 2004, and the 10th compiled book volume will ship next February. A Nintendo 3DS game, in which the player raises and interacts with Poyo, will ship that same month.
