Galneryus' Ono, Fear, and Loathing in Las Vegas Perform Hunter X Hunter Songs
posted on by Egan Loo
This year's 41st issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine confirmed on Saturday that Masatoshi Ono of the metal band Galneryus is singing "departure," the opening theme song of the new Hunter x Hunter television anime series. Ono is known for his four-octave voice and his 1992 solo hit "You're the Only," which sold over 1.1 million copies. Galneryus performed the ending theme song "A Far-Off Distance" for Rainbow - Nisha Rokubō no Shichinin.
The six-person emo/metalcore/electronica band Fear, and Loathing in Las Vegas (FaLiLV) will contribute the new song "Just Awake" as the new Hunter x Hunter's ending theme. The band performed the opening theme "Chase the Light!" for this year's Gyakkyō Burai Kaiji: Hakairoku-hen anime.
The second television anime series based on Yoshihiro Togashi's Hunter x Hunter manga will retell the story from the beginning, instead of continuing from the 1999-2001 anime series. It also has a new staff and cast, led by Megumi Han (live-action Otomen) as Gon Freecss.
Hiroshi Kōjina (Rainbow - Nisha Rokubō no Shichinin, Neuro - Supernatural Detective) is directing the anime at Madhouse (Death Note, NANA), and Atsushi Maekawa (Dragon Ball Z, Fresh Precure!) is in charge of the scripts. Takahiro Yoshimatsu ("Something Yoshimatsu" of Future GPX Cyber Formula, Slayers) is designing the characters, while Toshio Nakatani is producing.
