posted on by Egan Loo
Shuichi Heishi, a director of photography and computer-graphics supervisor who worked on the new Evangelion films at Khara, posted a photograph of the bonbori paper lamp that Evangelion director Hideaki Anno drew on Sunday. The lamp appeared at the Bonbori Matsuri (Paper Lamp Festival) which is held every summer at the Tsurugaoka Hachiman-gū shrine in Kamakura south of Tokyo.
Heishi described the sketch on the lamp as "the world's earliest(?) revealed logo of Eva 3.0 and [Evangelion] Unit-02 by Anno." Heishi also posted the lamp (pictured below) that Anno's wife Moyoco Anno drew for the festival.
2009's Evangelion: 2.0 You Can [Not] Advance, the second film in Anno's four-part remake of Gainax's Neon Genesis Evangelion anime series, ended with a teaser for the third film. According to the teaser, the film will be called Evangelion Shin Gekijōban: Q Quickening. The third film has no release date announced yet.
