Madoka Magica's 496-Page Archive Weighs in at 1.6 Kg

The Japanese production company Aniplex announced on Monday that it will sell advance copies of the two-volume Puella Magi Madoka Magica Production Note archive book set at Comic Market 80 in the Tokyo Big Sight event center from August 12 to August 14.
In collaboration with graphics designer Milky Isobe, the anime studio Shaft itself compiled and edited the 352 pages of production materials and 144 pages of art by the design team Gekidan Inu Curry. The book set measures 268 x 195 x 47 millimeters (about 10.5 x 7.6 x 1.9 inches) and 1.629 kilograms (3.59 pounds).
Each set contains a B5-sized illustration sheet by character designer Takahiro Kishida, while the limited first edition will add a postcard and a bookmark designed by Gekidan Inu Curry, as well as a separate bookmark of the character Kyubey. Each customer can only buy a maximum of two sets; each set costs 5,500 yen (US$72).
Aniplex's Comic Market booth will also sell a Puella Magi Madoka Magica karuta card set with scene karuta cards, a newly-recorded read-along CD, a T-shirt designed by Gekidan Inu Curry, and a B3-sized shopping bag to hold everything. The karuta set costs 5,000 yen (about US$65). Aniplex is selling similar CD-bundled shopping bag sets for Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae o Boku-tachi wa Mada Shiranai., The IDOLM@STER, Fate/Zero, and Natsume's Book of Friends/Hotarubi no Mori e.
