Young Jump's Aoharu #0.5 Issue Gets ClariS Theme Song
posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
The musical duo ClariS will provide a theme song for Shueisha's Weekly Young Jump spinoff issue #0.5 of Aoharu, to be released on August 2. The song, titled "Don't cry," will be released on ClariS' single "nexus," to be released on September 14.
ClariS, a pair of middle school girls from Hokkaido, sang the opening theme songs for both the Oreimo and Puella Magi Madoka Magica anime. The Oreimo opening song "irony" sold 14,021 copies to rank #7 during its debut week, and ranked at #6 in the top-selling CD singles by new artists in Japan in 2010. The duo will make a cameo in the ninth volume of the Oreimo light novel, and will also provide a theme song for the novel.
Mel Kishida (Hana-Saku Iroha chracter designer) will draw a special pinup illustration for the issue. Cencoroll auteur Atsuya Uki will provide the cover design for the issue (pictured at right). The issue will feature works from 41 manga creators such as Ran Igarashi (Hōzuki-san Chi no Aneki), F4U (Bunka-bu o Ikutsu ka), Machiko Kyō (Mikako-san, Sennen Gahō), Renjuro Kindaichi (Haré+Guu), Rendō Kurosaki (Hōkago Play), Sadaji Koike (Taishō Yakyū Musume.), FLIPFLOPs (Nekogami Yaoyorozu), and Akihito Yoshitomi (Blue Drop, Ray, Eat-Man). All the works in the issue will be less than 17 pages.
Shueisha shipped issue #0 of Aoharu issue last November with works from 25 creators such as uki, Kyō, Yumiko Shirai, and Kumiko Suekane.
