Great Eastern Lists U.S. Sailor Moon Merchandise
posted on by Andrew Osmond
The merchandising company Great Eastern Entertainment lists four Sailor Moon products on its website as "coming soon" — a set of playing cards, a wall scroll, a notebook, and a binder (pictured right). The new products have a Toei Animation logo printed on them but also have "No Price Yet." Great Eastern Entertainment has produced Sailor Moon merchandise in the past.
In 1992, Toei Animation premiered the television anime adaptation of Naoko Takeuchi's Sailor Moon magical girl manga that would run through 1997, and then be dubbed into Italian, Spanish, German, English, Tagalog, and other languages. The anime has seen a resurgence of interest in recent months, including an Italian videogame for the Nintendo DS and a relicensing by m4e in Germany (PDF).
In March, Kodansha USA Publishing announced that its Kodansha Comics imprint will publish Takeuchi's Sailor Moon manga and its two-volume prequel Codename: Sailor V starting this September.
Great Eastern Entertainment has not yet responded to ANN's request for comments.
