Sgt. Frog 'Writes' Letters to Cheer Up Kids in Quake Area
posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
The Japanese company Exnet is delivering letters of support from the anime character Sgt. Frog (Kerororo Gunsō) and the costumed hero Kamen Rider OOO to children who are still living in evacuation shelters in quake-stricken areas. The company started sending letters to Sōma City in Fukushima Prefecture and Tome City in Miyagi Prefecture on June 11, and plans to send letters to every evacuation shelter it can (upon request) between now and the end of July. The two prefectures were among those most heavily affected by the Great Eastern Japan Earthquake (Higashi Nihon Daishinsai) disaster.
The message in the letter from Kamen Rider OOO includes lines such as "because you're here, no matter what happens I can keep fighting without giving up," and "every day, be sure to play happily, eat well, and sleep well at night. If you do that, you will all be able to become even stronger than you are now."
The message in the letter from Sgt. Frog includes lines such as "I look forward to the day when you are all back at full spirits and together we can invade Pekopon (Earth)."
