The PlayStation 3 and PSP versions of the Suzumiya Haruhi no Tsuisō ((The Reminiscence of Haruhi Suzumiya) videogame sold 33,784 copies in Japan in its first three days on Media Create's sales ranking chart for the May 9-15 week.
Fans bought 18,831 of the PlayStation 3 version and 14,953 copies of the PSP version, leading them to rank as the second and fourth best-selling games for the week of May 9 to May 15. Their combined total is higher than the title ranked #1 on the list, Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 2 Professional (That Nintendo DS game shipped at the end of March and sold 20,722 more copies for a total of 475,503.) The #3 ranking went to the Nintendo DS game STEELDIVER.
Enterbrain's Weekly Famitsu magazine first revealed the game this past October. The game is a "wandering adventure" game which takes place immediately after the Suzumiya Haruhi no Shōshitsu (The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya) anime film. The player assumes the role of the original light novels' protagonist Kyon as he finds himself at the Kita High School Festival again, in a world where the SOS Brigade does not exist.
The game features the original voice cast from the television anime and film.
