Supercell/Miku Song in U.S. iTunes' World Top 10
posted on by Egan Loo
After Sony Music Direct Japan began selling the Japanese pop band supercell's single "The World Is Mine feat. Hatsune Miku" on Apple iTunes' American store on Wednesday, the single rose onto the store's top 10 singles chart for world music. It reached as high as #7, although it was at #8 as of press time. It was also Amazon's #56 bestselling MP3 song in the international category in the United States.
As the title implies, the song features vocals generated by Crypton Future Media's "virtual idol" Hatsune Miku with the Vocaloid2 singing software. The car marker Toyota used the song for a new online American commercial with Hatsune Miku earlier this month, and Anime Expo has since announced that Hatsune Miku will "perform" a concert at this year's July 1-4 event in Los Angeles.
In a related development, Naka no Hito (1-gō) — the "semi-official" Twitter account of Sega's Team Project DIVA team, indicated on Friday that there are two secret projects in development. According to the post, these two projects are separate from the already revealed, tentatively titled Hatsune Miku -Project Diva- Ver. 2.5 PSP game, the Hatsune Miku -Project Diva- Dreaming Theater 2nd PlayStation 3 game, and the Los Angeles concert at Anime Expo. The Twitter account then discussed how the specifications of Sony's upcoming successor to the PSP system, nicknamed "NGP," can handle 3D models.
