Japan's Sphere Voice Actresses Dub Sucker Punch Film (Updated)
posted on by Egan Loo
The four voice actresses who make up the group Sphere are dubbing the main characters in Zack Snyder's live-action American action film Sucker Punch into Japanese this spring. The production company Warner Brothers is renaming the movie as Angel Wars (no relation to the similarly titled manga) for its April 15 opening in Japan. (The film opens on Friday in North America.)
Minako Kotobuki (K-ON!!) will dub over the lead character Baby Doll, who is played by Emily Browning in the original version. Baby Doll fights in an imaginary world to win her freedom from an asylum in the real world. The sailor-uniform-wearing girl wields Japanese swords against armed samurai-style robots, zombie World War I-era German soldiers, and fire-breathing dragons. Ayahi Takagaki (Gundam 00), Haruka Tomatsu (Inazuma Eleven), and Aki Toyosaki (K-ON!!) will play Amber (Jamie Chung), Rocket (Jena Malone), and Blondie (Vanessa Hudgens), respectively.
Snyder had previously directed the live-action film adaptations of the graphic novels 300 and Watchmen.
