Miyazaki's Nausicaä Ohmu Made in Snow, Eggs, & Lego

posted on by Egan Loo
Hayao Miyazaki's giant insects appear in Tokamachi Snow Festival, on dinner plate

Snow sculptures from Niigata's Tokamachi Snow Festival, the oldest festival of its kind in Japan.

Ohmu made of omrice (fried rice-filled omelet), with baby tomatoes eyes, yakisoba noodle legs, and an omelet exoskeleton (reportedly darkened with squid ink).

The gargantuan Ohmu insects embody the dormant might of nature in Hayao Miyazaki's post-apocalyptic manga and anime film Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind.
