Jpop Girl Group Berryz Kobo Plans 1st U.S. Album

The digital music store JapanFiles announced this week that it will release the first American album from the Japanese pop idol group Berryz Kobo. The album is a version of an upcoming Japanese release by the group, which is currently untitled in both countries and is scheduled for release in Japan on March 30. JapanFiles will release the album at Seattle's Sakura-Con, where Berryz Kobo will perform as musical guests, from April 22 to April 24.
In Japan, the album will ship under the Hello! Project collective label, which also hosts popular acts like Morning Musume and C-ute. JapanFiles has informed ANN that this is the fastest it has ever been able to release a Hello! Project CD after the Japanese release.
Music producer Tsunku formed Berryz Kobo in 2004, and its members currently are Saki Shimizu, Momoko Tsugunaga, Chinami Tokunaga, Maasa Sudo, Miyabi Natsuyaki, Yurina Kumai, and Risako Sugaya. Altogether, the group has released 24 singles, seven albums and mini-albums, and one best-hits album. Among other songs by Berryz Kobo, the Inazuma Eleven ending theme songs "Seishun Bus Guide," "Ryuusei boy," "Otakebi boy WAO!," "Maji Bomber!!," and "Shining Power" all ranked on Oricon's weekly top-10 sales charts. The group has also performed theme songs for Futari wa Precure Max Heart 2: Yukizora no Tomodachi and Patalliro Saiyuki
