NY Children's Film Fest Auctions Off Anime Vacation
posted on by Gia Manry
The New York International Children's Film Festival (NYICFF) has announced an February 3 benefit and auction event for adults wishing to support the festival. Among the items to be sold in the live auction is a "Japanese animation vacation" — a trip for four to Japan which includes a visit to the Ghibli Museum.
There will also be a silent auction, and among the items available there is a voice acting workshop with Veronica Taylor, best known for her work as Ash in the anime adaptation of Pokémon. The class takes place in a professional studio in New York City's Flatiron district.
Proceeds from the auction will support the NYICFF's Public School Access program, which aims at providing access to the film festival for low-income children. This is accomplished by offering discount tickets via schools, full scholarships for children from low-income families, and providing free attendance for classes from Title I public schools.
Tickets to the event are currently on sale for US$150 for one entry (US$120 of which is tax-deductible), US$275 for two (US$220 is tax-deductible). The event will take place on February 3 in New York City.
