Children read corporate-published manga about motor company founder's life
The Financial Times newspaper reports (registration required) that 5,000 school children in Kyoto have been issued a manga about the life of entrepreneur Shigenobu Nagamori. Nagamori founded Nidec, a corporation which makes electric motors.
The manga was published by Nidec; Nagamori told the newspaper that he hopes that the story of his transition from impoverished farmer's son to founder and chief executive of a successful company will inspire young people. The title proclaims in Japanese that Nagamori is "the man who is hotter than even the sun" (Taiyō yori mo Atsui Otoko).
According to Forbes magazine, Nagamori is Japan's 13th wealthiest man.
