SDF-1 Macross Cake Featured at Sega Manager's Wedding

Sega licensing manager and former Bandai Entertainment marketing manager Jerry Chu's wedding in Southern California last week featured a cake in the form of the transformable SDF-1 Macross ship from The Super Dimension Fortress Macross science-fiction anime. The large cake had several figures in front of it, including two transformable VF-1 Valkyrie fighters in a military recessional pose and another Valkyrie containing the characters of Max and Milia Jenius (Max and Miriya in the American Robotech version) in wedding attire.
In the anime series, Max and Milia held their wedding on board the Macross as the first human and alien Zentradi to marry. Just as in Chu's real-life wedding, the anime's wedding featured a giant Macross cake.
Coincidentally, Mari Iijima, the voice of the idol singer Minmay in Macross, held a concert that same day in Southern California at the 10th annual MacrossWorld Convention. October 10, 2010 — 10/10/10, or the day of the wedding, concert, and convention — happens to be the birthday of Minmay in the anime. Among other models and figures, the MacrossWorld Convention also featured a non-edible replica of the anime's giant wedding cake and a smaller edible cake.
