Based on a story by Kazumasa Hirai, 8 Man had already been adapted into a Manga by Jiro Kuwata (published in Shonen Magazine) when it was adapted into a TV series in 1963. It was later adapted into a live action movie, 8 Man (8 Man returns in the US).
