Especially created for the 1998 Jump Super Anime Tour. Ran as promotional triple-feature with HUNTER x HUNTER and Seikimatsu Leader Den Takeshi.
In 1999, Japanese readers of Shonen Jump could send away for a VHS copy of this OAV in exchange for a coupon printed in Shonen Jump and ¥500 shipping and handling.
This is the only One Piece title that Toei Animation didn't make.
Wataru Takagi & Takkou Ishimori were the only voice actors to provide voice work for the TV anime.
