CAPCOM announced on Monday that the Monster Hunter: World game has shipped 8.3 million copies worldwide. The figure includes digital sales. The number had reached 7.5 million in March.
Monster Hunter: World launched worldwide on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on January 26, and shipped 5 million copies worldwide (including digital sales) in its first three days to set a new franchise record. The game had a combined shipments and digital sales total of 6 million copies as of February 9.
CAPCOM plans to launch the game for PC on August 9.
The new game is an open world game that no longer has the previous games' loading screens in between areas, and thus no longer allows players to use zone transitions as safe zones. The game has a "living ecosystem" that allows players to use and destroy elements of the environment, and use monster behaviors against other monsters.
