Demon's Souls Game's Online Service Shuts Down on February 28

posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins

Sony announced on Monday that it will shut down the online service for the Demon's Souls PlayStation 3 game on February 28 at 5:00 p.m. JST. Sony thanked all the players who have been using the online service since 2009, and mentioned fans can still continue to play the game offline.

Services that will go offline include: online multi-player, hint messages, bloodstains marking other players' deaths, and rankings.

FromSoftware developed the game and released it in Japan in February 2009. Atlus USA released the game in North America in October 2009, and Bandai Namco Games released the game in Australia and Europe in June 2010.

The game is the first in Hidetaka Miyazaki's Souls game series. The latest game, Dark Souls III, shipped in Japan for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in March 2016, and then in North America and Europe for PS4, Xbox One, and PC in April 2016.
