FunimationNow App Launches in Australia, New Zealand

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda

FUNimation Entertainment announced on Thursday that it has launched its FunimationNow streaming app in Australia and New Zealand. The service is available for free with ads, or with the FunimationNow Premium subscription for AU$5.99.

The service will include FunimationNow's catalog of dubbed titles, as well as simuldub titles that Funimation has announced or will announce for the spring anime season. FunimationNow is available in Australia and New Zealand via browsers and on iOS and Android devices, and the company plans to add more devices such as Amazon Fire TV, Xbox 360, and Apple TV "over the next few weeks."

Funimation's FAQ for the announcement stated that subtitled versions of some of its shows are available in Australia and New Zealand on Crunchyroll through the two companies' partnership announced in September. Funimation also clarified that the announcement only applies to streaming content in the two countries, not for home video releases.

Funimation launched the app for iOS, Android, Kindle, and Windows 10 devices in the United States last March, replacing its old streaming apps on various devices. The app also launched in the United Kingdom and Ireland in the same month. The app launched for Amazon Fire TV, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Roku last July, and on PlayStation Vita last September.
