This year's 24th issue of Hakusensha's Hana to Yume magazine revealed on Friday that Tachibana Higuchi will publish a two-chapter spinoff manga of her Gakuen Alice series starting in the first 2016 issue on December 4. The first "Kageki no Kuni no Alice" (Alice in the Country of Opera) chapter will be 41 pages long and will have a color page. Higuchi also posted a color preview of the manga from the 24th issue.
The short manga will revolve around a girl named Kako, who joins an Opera troupe filled with Alice ability users.
Higuchi ended her Anne no Magomago Tosho Land (Anne's Confusing Literary Land) manga in September after launching the series in Hana to Yume in August 2014.
Higuchi ended her long-running Gakuen Alice manga in the same magazine in 2013. Tokyopop published 16 volumes of the manga before the company shut down. The company also published four volumes of Higuchi's earlier Portrait of M & N manga.
Gakuen Alice inspired a 26-episode television anime series in 2004-2005. Right Stuf released the series on DVD in North America.
