New York Anime Festival 2008
Preview Guide
by Mikhail Koulikov,
The New York Anime Festival, now in its second year, is likely the only major anime-related event in the U.S. that is not run by a group of fans, but rather, by a professional exhibition management company. To some people, that might sound like a turn-off. Those people would be sadly mistaken.
Fans who actually attended the premiere NYAF found a well-put-together and well-run anime convention that was able to attract quite a list of guests and companies. Every indication is that this year will be even better, so attendees should look forward to a weekend jam-packed with panels, exclusive screenings, music performances and other assorted fun, not only at the Javits, but at such New York City locations as the Knitting Factory music venue, and Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto's Morimoto restaurant.
