Otakon 2007
Licensing Roundup (Part 2)
by Mikhail Koulikov,
Although the overall number of new anime announced for US release at this year's Otakon is fairly small, they include one of the most popular and eagerly-awaited series of the last few years, at least judging by the number of fans cosplaying its characters at conventions throughout the country. A second new acquisition, also quite well-known, is confirmed for nationwide TV broadcast sometime in 2008.
As of the end of the convention, three companies have picked up the licenses to a total of nine new anime:
Ayakashi Ayashi
Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion
King of Bandit Jing in Seventh Heaven
Moonlight Mile
My-Otome Zwei
Ouran High School Host Club
Sasami: Magical Girl Club
Toward the Terra...
Venus Versus Virus
There was only one new manga license announced: Moso Shoujo Otaku Kei
However, the summer's final major anime/manga event, the San Diego Comic-Con, opens on Thursday, July 26. Many new licensing announcements are expected to be made, and ANN staff will again be providing you with the most up-to-date news on them.
