I need a little help on understanding how the Japanese fandom is finding Aldnoah Zero worthy of getting on a "best of" list.

Was Shonen Hollywood really that good? I have it on my list of things to eventually watch, but from what I heard it was very "meh" series.

Same, although I'm surprised that some of these anime manage to beat others to the shortlist

Online polls are always more about how organised the fans are than anything else. Hence how XJapan keep winning Loudwire awards.

My vote's for Cute High Earth Defense Club LOVE!

Wow the landscape of Japan's fandom sure is different from that of the West. I'm going to take this with a pinch of salt. (My favorite is Yona of the Dawn though, so glad to see it ranked)

I voted for Wish Upon the Pleiades. I found it amusing that the brooms make the sound effects of a car engine.

I only watched two shows on this list, and Pleiades is the only one that I finished, so it kind of gets my vote by default. Clearly, I am not watching what Japan is watching (and I'm just fine with that).

Is this a female only poll by any chance?

Literally exactly what I was thinking! If not, the audience who voted is, at the very least, very heavily skewed that way.

I liked it a lot. It isn't what it seems to be on the surface, it does take some risks. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't but I really loved that they try to deviate from the norm, like having an entire episode be the actual variety show the guys were appearing in, or a concert, or doing the point of view from the owl's perspective. It's also a bit different in that it shows the other side of being an idol, how these personalities are created to please fans and not necessarily who the boys are in reality (and how sometimes it takes a toll on them when you have to keep pretending in public or do things that go directly against what you believe in), or how time passes and no matter how much work you put into it or how famous you become, this is not a long lasting job. Time will pass, you'll get older, people will forget. It's not perfect but it's definitely something different and when it works, it really does.

K is is an absolutely abysmal anime, it shouldn't even be on the list for anything outside best music as it is really good. It also seems female only or the males may not care about the event much.
