Just wonderful news. YGO is as strong and popular as ever and I'm excited to see just how much revenue it will make once the movie starts showing in Japan. Pretty excited for Jump Festa in a few days where they will premiere the full length official trailer for the movie too. The teaser absolutely blew me away and I want to see just how well done the official trailer will be.

So can we say most people are buying the advance tickets just for the promo card Blue Eyes Alternative Dragon?

I mean, it works similar as most YGO manga, right? The promo card is the selling point rather than the merchandise itself.

That being said, YuGIOh all the way

It's not that surprising, Yu-Gi-Oh's always been popular. It has 5 anime series and counting so far.

I would venture a guess that YGO is popular, but not among children. I think the popularity largely stems from the generation that grew up with it, with some older and some younger.

The film has sold the highest number of pre-sale tickets of any Toei film.

I was under the impression that Toei have had absolutely nothing to do with Yu-Gi-Oh! since the original pre-Duel Monsters anime with the green haired Kaiba?

While Toei Animation is not involved in this film, the main Toei company is the distributor of the film.

They are talking of Toei Company. And I know that at least Toei Animation co-produced the Yu-Gi-Oh GX.

I'd say the older folk who grew up with the original manga are doing it for the movie first and card second. The younger folk, card first.

I think it's safe to say many are buying it for the nostalgia factor and the cards. Still, wouldn't mind having that new Gandora card.

Remember when they did the same thing in America with the first Pokemon movie (then the movie dropped like a rock after the first week)

Considering a lot of the themes in the various YGO series this isn't too surprising. That said, a kid won Arc-V's card design contest, so there's probably still a decent amount...?

This is still pretty awesome, either way. Very Happy

(I wish they'd decide who's dueling Kaiba though. The trailer clearly shows Yugi, but Shounen Jump's talking about Yami... This is like 2001 all over again...)

That's strange given that Yami was never his name in the first place.

I seen the effect of Blue Eyes Alternative White Dragon, it's standard at best and a tad too easy to special summon. Still want it though.
