"Ronda used Power-up Punch!"
"It's super-effective!" Smile

Whoever thought a cute Pokémon like Pikachu would serve as an inspiration to fighters?

34 seconds? Try 14 seconds in her fight against Cat Zingano at UFC 184 and her 16 second finish against Alexis Davis UFC 175?

That's true but weren't those all armbar submissions and not knockouts though!

This is so weird to me. I'd get it if she was a comic book nerd but this can't be real. I don't know any other celebrity that's this open about their otaku-ness.

Her anime fandom was cemented for me when she showed up at WrestleMania 31 this year in her segment with The Rock, Stephanie McMahon & Triple H wearing an "Over 9000!" DBZ shirt... wish I had a screencap of it handy to share...

I honestly find her adorable and very inspiring. I hope her master plan to become Captain Marvel works out for her.

Ya can find anime refs in unexpected places, like say, this weekend's Robot Chicken DC Special III: Laughing

http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x3a60ak_robot-chicken-dc-comics-special-iii-magical-friendship-movie-2015_tv

  • (@10:17 mark)

Superman: "At Anime Expo, you're a dime a dozen."

Batman: "Cosplay? Anime Expo?! Those aren't even words! Just garbage falling out of the stupid square-jawed face of a super piece of shit!"

Though it's apropos since Robot Chicken already had a panel at Anime Expo.

Or this one (@7:53 mark).

Or in ABC channel's TV series Last Man Standing:

  • "Mandy! We promised! Now mom's gonna look at us with those big, sad anime eyes."

Or on the Shark Tank TV series:

LOLIWARE.......... It's not what ya think! Laughing
