I'm already missing Aoi's old hairstyle but I'm loving seeing the girls again and the vibes between Rin and Ayano.

contrariwise, I found episode 3 the least interesting. Bridges are neat but in an anime format it became a little repetitive for my tastes. Not that I didn't enjoy, but 1-2 I think were stronger episodes for me.

It's nice to be able to watch more Yuru Camp. Despite the style change for this season, I'd say it's something I've gotten used to by now and it still has the same cozy atmosphere and gentle sense of humour as the previous seasons.

Also, I really want some of that dam curry and kawane tea ice cream that Nadeshiko eats.

I really want to not be bothered by the change in studio, but they just won't let me. 95% of the time they get at least a passing grade, but there have been a couple of shots of the bikes where it switches to truly awful CG for no obvious reason and it just destroys the atmosphere entirely.

I mean I'm still going to watch it, but I'm also left thinking "I wish it hadn't changed studio" at least once an episode.

I'm glad episode 3 happened. For the first time it actually felt like YuruCamp with characters and backgrounds matching perfectly as far as I could notice (...bad CGI aside), and with no background taking me out of the show by being a freaking unfiltered photo. There was a lot of folliage and none of it looked awful!

I also loved the mood of this episode but it also made me check a couple things because i couldn't believe them. Unfortunately I couldn't easily come across train fares because 4,900 yen for a 45km second tier one-way trip felt outrageously expensive. Fortunately, Rin's trip was very easy to perfectly trace on google maps; I couldn't believe she took over 4 hours for a less than 100km trip (82km in reality, or 51 miles for Americans) but her path does indeed go through residential areas about 70% of the way and in a shot we get a view of her speedometer going at a leisurely 30km/h, so it kind of checks out assuming a couple stops along the way. Ayano was probably going faster on her more powerful bike so no need to be going out at... 3:30 AM.

Top speeds on Rin's Yamaha Vino 50 and Ayano's Honda Ape 100 will be about 60 kph and 80 kph, respectively.

Pretty cold trip, since neither bike has the excess alternator capacity to run heated grips or heated gear.

I'll confess that I never rode a bike, but I do live in a very windy and cold city so I do get how exhausting it can be to have frosty gusts constantly blowing against you Laughing Seeing Rin's speed made me remember Super Cub and how they stopped to mention how much of a problem wind is starting at 30kmph (so, funny Rin always stayed below that. Probably the reason why she was still alive). Remembering Super Cub also made me check their equipment, and even though Rin didn't have goggles while Ayano did, Rin did have a windshield while Ayano didn't. No wonder she was dead.

So it's worth pointing out that she doesn't buy a single one way ticket but the "oku-shizu tour" ticket. Now i had a rummage but couldn't find out exactly what she was getting but the basic one way train fare is only ¥1,340 from Senzu to Ikawa.

I am a big fan of seasons 1 and 2, but I will not watch season 3. I could have tolerated a downgrade in visual quality, but why the hell change the character designs? More power to those who can tolerate that and still be charmed.

Ah, I got lost with all the unfamiliar places. Honestly I only noticed the price after going back because I thought she was one train trip further than she actually was (it's just that her last stage in the mini-train was so short in her first map that I didn't see it).

You should've seen it in the manga! I thought the anime version of the bridge tour would go on longer than it did.

Yeah, agreed. Nice as they are, the photorealistic backgrounds aren't painterly enough to let the girls blend in, and there's been some terrible compositing, especially in the third episode.

Being a manga reader, I knew going in that the bridge tour would be a weak point in the anime even if the studio hadn't changed, given the amount of screentime Rin and Ayano's bikes would need. The trains look great, but the human riders on the motorbikes are stiff.

I have a feeling things will improve once this particular camping trip is finished. We'll see.

Did a quick flip-through of vol. 10 just now and the anime's pacing is actually fine. It's possible that it just feels longer in the manga Anime smile
