This is so unfortunate, especially the way it happened. Always loved Sakurai's voice and I loved it more when they performed the OP's for vampire anime. I hope Sakurai's family and friends can get through this time. RIP

I listened to BUCK-TICK a lot during my teenage years after discovering them through Shiki and was always so impressed how they kept up their performances and stayed together for so many years. Not to mention Sakurai's iconic voice.

He will be missed... RIP.

Sakurai was the real deal. A wonderful, unique voice and amazing stage presence. It's a shame he left us so soon. May he rest in peace.

That so sad to hear, I just finished up watching Trinity Blood on Crunchyroll (to be honest, I did watch Trinity Blood on Adult Swim back in my college day), the intro music from BUCK-TICK with Atsushi Sakurai always get my attention whenever I watched an episode of Trinity Blood. It's so sad to hear him passed away.

RIP Crying or Very sad

One of the very best. A massive loss. When it comes to Japan, Buck-Tick is one of my all time favorite bands, and that is, in no small part due to their vocalist.

Aku no Hana, Kurutta Taiyo and Darker than Darkness -style 93- are favorite albums of mine.

Rest In Peace Atsushi. A legend left us too soon.

Absolute legend with an amazing discography. They were also one of the founders of visual kei. Such a sad way to die. I think they had a Budokan concert coming up too. IIRC they had been doing Budokan concerts every December.

I am absolutely devastated.

I have been an avid fan of BUCK-TICK for 22 years.

I got the email from Fish Tank, BUCK-TICK's fan club, about an important message yesterday, but didn't read it until today. I was required to log in to the club page to read it, so I initially panicked, but then I tried to reason with myself that surely they wouldn't deliver a death message that way.

I'd thought in the past few years about the fact all the members are getting up there in age.

Atsushi was never the one I thought would be first... And so soon after their 35th anniversary.

Last month BUCK-TICK had suddenly decided to have livestream access to one of their concerts, and I was happy to be able to experience that. Now, I'm so utterly grateful they did it, because prior my only 'live' experience of one of their concerts was during the height of lockdown. Now knowing that livestream was one of Atsushi's last performances, one of BUCK-TICK's last performances, I will forever treasure the memory.

My prayers and love go out to Atsushi's family, his friends and bandmates, and of course all the other fans.

Terribly sad news; BUCK-TICK have been a constant in the industry for such a long time and Sakurai's stage presence was phenomenal. I will miss the joy of discovering their new releases Sad

I was only familiar with a small handful of their songs through anime, but their impact and contributions to J-rock and vkei was certainly not lost on me. I have a lot of friends who love this band. May he RIP.

Devastating news. I discovered Buck-Tick through "Gessekai" being used in Night Walker. It's still one of my all-time favorite songs and it lead me into deep diving into their discography. I enjoyed some eras more than others, but everything they did was interesting and unique.

Also worth mentioning is Sakurai's solo album, which features contributions from a number of western artists, including Wayne Hussey from The Mission and Robin Guthrie from Cocteau Twins. Highly recommended.

RIP to a legend...

That opening song was about the only redeeming factor of Trinity Blood. Rest in peace.

Oh, geez. I've been a big fan of his songs for years, ever since I picked up the first volume of Nightwalker in '01. Several of the ones mentioned in the article have been in my Halloween playlist for ages. I listened to Gessekai and the Shiki tracks just today.

I'm definitely going to miss his work. Rest in peace, and thanks for everything.
