The RE Engine is really giving Unreal a run for its money.

It really is very impressive. This DLC looks superb and I'm now actually stoked to play Village again in third-person mode, although I previously had very little incentive to go back to it. If anything this is a great taste of what's to come with the RE4 remake (for which there was a fan-made Unreal Engine 5 showcase video released a few months ago, ironically). |

Not only does the RE engine look good, but what really impresses me is it has broad utility. First-person Resident Evil, Third-Person Resident Evil, Monster Hunter, and Devil May Cry 5 use it, and those are pretty different games. EA had plenty of problems mandating studios use its Frostbite engine, which works very well for FPS games, but is reportedly so specific that it struggles with anything else. |
