I'm glad they managed to get the entire cast from the video game back for the English dub. I might actually rewatch it now.

How can they justify a $300 price tag when series these days go for $50-60 at the most. Haven't they learned yet!?!

We may see what Aniplex will think when the standard edition of Demon Slayer sells well enough.

I wish they would at least regularly offer standard editions instead of only collection editions.

A single cour is about $50-60 from other companies, so this full two cour+ 2 ep set would be around $130 using that pricing. $300 is still way overpriced, but at least they're not splitting shows up as pointlessly as they have before. Kill la Kill was the same price at $60 x 5 sets, and Persona 4 Golden was $80 x 2 sets... for an undubbed single cour show.

Same, especially since this release doesn’t even qualify as a collector’s set, yet it’s costs so much.
Also, I’m hoping that they’ll dub the Persona 3 movies. Although I’m worried it will be just as expensive and also lack any good bonuses.

While I don't believe they're marketing this as a Special Edition they did release a Demon Slayer disc through Funi that is reasonably priced without the extras. Hopefully if that does well we can expect more for them. This set took so long I'm surprised they're even bothering, though. I'm fairly certain anyone who wanted this would've seen it. It's nice the managed to get the game cast back, though.

Wasn't there also a pair of OVAs in addition to the two specials? Weird that they aren't included.

So I guess the Demon Slayer standard-priced set from Funimation was a one-time thing? Was hoping Funi would do it for some if not most of their future releases.
Oh well, hopefully Funimation will at least be able to stream the dub sometime near the bluray release (still waiting for SAO Alicization dub to stream).

They really charging $300 for this? This was easily one of the worst game adaptions that I have seen. Animation was terrible in almost every episode

They're included. From the article:
Quote:
The PERSONA 5 the Animation's "Complete Blu-ray Set" will include six discs with 26 episodes of the anime series as well as two anime specials PERSONA 5 the Animation: Dark Sun and PERSONA 5 the Animation: Stars and Ours.

Aniplex-USA's pricing policies are almost certainly being set by Aniplex in Japan. $300 is about what the Japanese set costs, and since Japan and the US share the same BR region (Region A), its speculated that the last thing Japanese middle managers want is for their Japanese editions to be undercut by cheaper US printings of the same product. Profit margins are thin enough as it is, and anything they can do to keep the Japanese buying their higher priced editions, they'll do. The US anime market is tiny in comparison to the Japanese market.

Notice that officially licensed Aniplex product for Region B & Region C are nearly always significantly cheaper than Region A pressings of the same title. Blu Rays from Region B & C won't play on a standard Japanese BR machine (although they will play on an All-Regions BR machine, which I understand generally cost much more in Japan).

The real issue here is not the price, as a standard edition can come out later, it's you pay . 300 for the show + extra episodes and a few art cards. No hardback art book, no Morgana plush, no soundtrack CD and no Haru figure.
