Johnny Bosch Yong would have worked better as Khun but Hackney was amazing as Dmitri so let's see.

Anyone think this could this be bound for Toonami soon? They've been airing a lot of promos for the sub on cruchyroll during the block.

If they do it'll be when the show ends on CR, because I doubt they'd want Toonami to take their viewership. However, I doubt they'll do it. If you watch it on Toonami you'd have no reason to go to their website to watch the show. Plus, Toonami shows are also available to stream on the AS website, which more directly competes with CR.

Wouldn't be unprecedented, as Dr. Stone's dub was streamed and broadcast at the same time, albeit the Adult Swim airings were on a several week delay (and I know the situation was a little different since it was a Crunchyroll title that had it's dub premiere on FunimationNow, but Adult Swim and Crunchyroll supposedly have a partnership together, maybe they can make it work). More platforms a show can run on, the better in my opinion.

DeMarco has put distance between Toonami and Crunchyroll as of late given all the WarnerMedia restructuring (save gen:Lock given his love of adult American action cartoons, as precious few of them are available). Having Crunchyroll be too involved might weaken his autonomy as Warner seems set to make Crunchyroll the face of their non-DC/Looney Tunes animation (shown by them having a dedicated Crunchyroll section on HBO MAX).

I don't think he's putting distance between them, but rather it's Crunchyroll not wanting to play ball and share their titles around, at least the dubs they have exclusive to their platform. Warnermedia restructuring and budget cuts are probably responsible too though.

However, this Tower of God anime is a TMS production like Dr. Stone and Lupin Parts 4 & 5 were, and they seem to want their stuff aired on TV, so it seems like the stars would be in alignment for it all to happen again. And like I said before, they're running a copious amount of ads for the sub on [as] already, something I don't think they've ever done before other than for FLCL Alternative/Progressive, which seems suspect to me.

Also, what makes you think a bunch of non-anime stuff is going to crop up in the Crunchyroll section on HBOMax? Didn't they say it just was going to be a curated section of the titles already streaming on the site basically?

It’s primarily going to be their originals and co-productions I would guess. And given that stuff like gen:Lock fall under that banner more so than Rooster Teeth these days, I was including that.

I can’t speak to WarnerMedia’s internal politics, but it would make sense to keep overlapping divisions at arm’s length to preserve your autonomy. Unless “Crunchyroll presents Toonami” becomes a thing.

When I first saw the headline I assumed JYB would be doing Khun, I'm not really sure what his Bam will sound like. Also feels like he's being wasted on a character that barely ever speaks more than a few lines per episode.

Wow, that is a pretty stacked cast. Lot of big names along with some surprises.

I'm guessing the dub is Union?

I assume he'll probably use his Renton/Emil/Nate voice.
