Cool, just as I expected. Soon the lack of Turn A Gundam movie BDs will be the one thing left for me to complain about.

Man, it takes too long to turnaround from a Fathom release to BD. Mazinger Z Infinity had the same delay.

Quick glance at the headline and almost thought there was finally a release announcement for Gundam Seed. Well, I waited this long...

Nice. I have been hoping for a BD release of Gundam X. I want the whole series released in a single set.

Ah, finally. Once 0080's BD was announced, this was the last BD set I was waiting on. I'd love a CE, but I'll be happy with just a standard release if that's all we get after so long =)

Good to hear on both fronts, as none of the movie theaters around me were playing NT, but I still want Gundam X in particular to get an English dub. That's been one of my biggest anime wishes for nearly two decades now. It's still unfortunate this series wasn't dubbed and released close to Wing back in the day, honestly. I think it would have helped Gundam in the U.S. (I currently have it as my sixth-favorite Gundam release, but design- and creative-action-scenario-wise, it's the closest to Gundam Wing in spirit overall.)

The Bluray of X will be really nice, though, because the original DVD release was not as advertised: https://bit.ly/2kods52

AkaRed, that is an awesome promo image. It's from the original series' release in 1996. But back in the early 2000s, if I recall correctly, that image was used on wall scrolls for people to purchase on all kinds of import anime websites. (It was kind of the Wild West back then.)

Nice to see Gundam X being re-released and on BD this time. While I must admit that some of its episodes aren't exactly the best I think it was an underappreciated title. I don't even think it was legally available in the west at all until that 2016 release, which was shocking to me. It's also nice that they will be improving upon the video; my friend has the 2016 DVD and the colors look awful compared to the LDs.

@LightningCount, you're exactly right that image was used on a lot of wall scrolls, etc, back then. There was a lot of great promo art for X, actually. The LDs came in gatefold-style sleeves and had lots of inserts and liner notes, most of which were packed with excellent art.

The delays happen for the SAME reason.
Reverse-importation fears.
The US and Japan are the same region coding for Blu ray. The 6 month quarantine is going to happen unless it's a company like Warner Bros releasing one of its American titles in Japan. I hardly think WB cared about sales of its Batman titles in Japan and they barely made a sales blip I'm sure for most of the animated shows.
They have lost massive amounts of sales in Japan because fans imported cheaper American releases of shows like Cowboy Bepop. THAT one I heard did have huge reverse importation; probably a few hundred copies of the American Bandai edition were imported. The Japanese market is even more sales sensitive than the US market. They price according to what they think will sell and try to do better than break even as much as possible.
This is why some companies (Toei) provide inferior quality master tapes for releases of their shows in the US. It's a coincidence when this happens ONCE. When it happens multiple times with their BIG shows (Sailor Moon, Dragonball), it's being done on purpose.

The Gundam shows are coming... Be patient, or import the Japanese version if you want it now.
I honestly didn't think Gundam NT was worth the import cost for extras I'll look at once. It was an okay film but not something I need now.
I am SO GLAD I waited on Origin because I don't need storyboards, posters, and other things I'll browse once there, either. Lovely looking show but I'd rather not spend $500+ on six episodes even if they are 45+minutes long each.
I felt the same for Gundam Bandit after my experience with the first season and just felt like I overpaid for what it was.
I don't think importing's worth it unless it's a show or movie that has licensing issues and will likely not be released in an official domestic edition in the US any time soon. That's maybe less than 15% of the big shows that debut in Japan first.
This is NOT like the 1990s or even the early 2000s. The delays between Japan and the US are still a lot less than they used to be.
Gundam Wing debuted in 1995 in Japan. The US didn't get an official release until 2000!

I don't suppose Right Stuf still does a dvd trade in for the new blu ray sets? I remember them doing it for the Turn A sets, but I think those blu rays came out much closer to the dvd releases.

I'm personally excited for the excuse to watch X again, and can't wait to see what they look like on blu ray. There's a lot that's not great about it, but the story and setting is unique, and I think it's easier to appreciate that years after it came out.

I guess I think it was ahead of its time?

Here at Right Stuf we've been extremely happy to be able to offer the previous trade-in programs and are definitely looking into being able to do the same with After War Gundam X. We'll have more details when we have a release date set.
