Wow. 14 episodes. I would have expected 13 at most. Nice of them to push it to one more.

The show premiered on television in Japan on January 10. Netflix will stream the series worldwide. The show's website states that the series will stream on Netflix in Japan starting in January, though it has not debuted on Netflix as of press time. The website also states that the anime will debut on Netflix outside of Japan this spring. Netflix is listing a January 11 premiere in some international territories including Canada, the United Kingdom, and the Philippines, but these listings have not been confirmed and may be an error.

This paragraph perfectly encapsulates what's wrong with Netflix and anime Very Happy

Though I'm super happy it's getting 14 episodes. 2-cour would have been great, but 14 is an odd number that may indicate they're adapting exactly the amount they want.

Also worth noting that the Netflix show page has been updated again. The trailer (which was initially Japanese with English subtitles) now offers English, French, Italian, and Brazilian Portuguese audio with Japanese (Closed Captions), French, Polish and Arabic subtitles.

Netflix UK sent out a marketing email to customers last week confirming the date. If an editor would like me to forward it to them, I can. Here's a screenshot posted by Anime UK News: https://twitter.com/animeuknews/status/948556196880973827

Look at the updates, it's coming out with dubs (English, French, Italian, Brazilian Portuguese) and subs (English, Japanese, French, Polish, Arabic, etc)!

Japan is weird. It aired on January 11th at Midnight, did it not? They call that the "10th at midnight", though. I'll never understand that.

14 episodes sounds like a great. However many they need without rushing or padding.

That’s me! (In regards to me sending it in)

14 Episodes sounds good- considering they had the first two episodes finished last summer, I’d say the production is going well.

Nice. I hope all the 14 episodes are part of the main plot. I do not wish to see 1 or 2 episodes about something superfluous, unimportant to the main story.

Netflix even uploaded an English dub trailer. Somebody on reddit provided a link to the trailer below:

On another note, one time I actually saw Netflix had two generic listings for Violet Evergarden on the US Netflix, they have since been removed, which probably doesn't mean anything on the US front.

EDIT: The original link to the trailer is on Netflix's listing on their website, which is accessible from the USA.

And it's now official. Episode 1 is up as a simulcast with new episodes coming each Thursday. Don't know about United States though, but it's happening.

Perhaps the fourteenth episode is to compensate for the fact that the first one was used for promotional purposes for quite some time, so as to ensure that a full cour of unseen content still awaits those who are anticipating this.
