I'll believe it when they actually start shooting.

He may only be producing rather than directing it, but I'm quite surprised to see this moving forward after Cameron statement that he wouldn't be working on it until after all of the Avatar sequels were out.
Guess all the pieces fell into place sooner than expected and the powers-that-be didn't want to wait that long.

This is the first Hollywood live-action of a manga/anime that I'm very excited for. I don't know who Rosa Salazar is but she looks like a good match for Alita.

This might be pretty good, glad to see it hopefully getting under way. Since the source material isn't too well-known, it doesn't feel like an obvious cash grab. Plus James Cameron! Not a huge fan of Avatar, but he's done Terminator, and you can't deny the man knows how to put butts in seats.

He also did Aliens..and despite being 30 years old it is still on par with even todays sci fi franchises.
It looks like the next couple of years we are getting quite a few japan adapted series into live action films, this one,,FMA and GITS..i wonder what else is in store.

I expected them to go younger. Jessica Alba was 19-ish when Jim put her in Dark Angel but Rosa Salazar was good in American Horror Story and Arkham Origins. In Jim and Rodriguez i trust, so i still remain cautiously optimistic.

July 20, 2018 that's just a little over two years away they must be pretty far along in the script considering they can take years to make.

Oh to hell with Cameron. Mr. Avatar, Mr. Abyss. The only thing you did good was the 'Aliens' movie. Now let's hope that this director will be able to pull off the film and do a good job. And that it won't look like SH*T.

2018 is incredibly early... Perhaps they're done setting up the script already. In any case, I'll believe it when I see it.

My interest in this is almost zero at this point with all the delays.

That's what I say. But 2018 is a long way off. I mean we still haven't gotten through 2016 yet.

I would imagine people will be like "No they will ruin this movie like Dragon Ball Evolution" or "This movie is going to suck like Ghost in the Shell!". I guess Battle Angel is too obscure for the causal anime fans to bitch about it. Just like no one was bitching about the American live action movies of Speed Racer, Kite and Old Boy (Also base on a manga).

I don't want Rodriguez directing, he's usually far more shitty than good.
