Played Platinum. It was alright for a demo.

That November 30th during the event was funny though. Good trolling.

I was gonna get that Ultimate Edition, but the Noctis figure was disappointing so I got the deluxe instead.

(rather than being a model that you display, it's an action figure with ball-joint and you can move/bend it's arms/legs etc... not really a collector's item imo)

That's ultimate edition looks pretty good but for $270 I'll have to think it over. I'm gonna need some of that money for the Persona 5 collector's edition. Man, I'm gonna be broke this year......

I can't believe they're already literally making the equivalent of an Advent Children and a Last Order for this. The game hasn't even been released! They don't even know if it's going to be a hit or a bomb.

The mini-anime is more to market the game, particularly in Japan where Square Enix hopes to see more console sales pick up. Likely Square just repurposing the in-game models of the characters and enemies.

The movie may be fine in it's own right, and is probably comprised of CG footage & assets originally being made for the game anyway until the game's trajectory changed. Better than just letting it lie there in a vault and will make them some money that will help recoup costs as well as act as marketing for the game itself. Advent Children made them money so I'm honestly surprised it took them this long to attempt another CG film.

So essentially these are there to help make the game a hit. Not in anticipation of the game being a hit.

I preordered the Collector's Edition (PS4) the second it appeared on the website Anime catgrin

Seeing as how I definitely would've bought the Brotherhood anime and the Kingsglaive movie anyway, and most likely also would've bought the soundtrack(s) if available separately, to me this was well worth it because I also would've wanted an artbook and the figure too Very Happy

Yeah, this is why I did it as well despite the price.
