Don't beat yourself, I didn't know about the omake being animated until a couple of days ago.

Oh wow, animated omake! Thanks for the heads up.

I just started watching the first season of Black Lagoon and have only seen five episodes, so I cannot comment on the show as a whole. It is fun as far as light entertainment goes, but I cannot say that I am blown away by anything I have seen so far. One main weakness of the show, as I see it, is that the characters lack depth: Rock is a candyass whiner (sort of like a salaryman version of Shinji from NGE, Dutch is the token black guy who reminds me of Jet from Cowboy Bebop, and Revy is the badass chick with guns we've seen a thousand times before. I suppose it's fine to have stock characters in anime as long as the plot gives them something new and exciting to do. As it stands, I do like the show but would like it a lot more if the protangonists were more interesting or complex. Cowboy Bebop was effective because its main characters were genuinely likeable; the same cannot be said about the ones in Black Lagoon.

after 5 episodes wow tough critic. OK suppose to give a review after 3 well watever. Anyway give it time and foremost BL is suppose to be another action flick. Shouldn't expect much. However, unlike most, BL is actually good because it has not a decent, but a good story.

Well you have to like military/gang violence, black ops, assassinations, wild west...barbaric stuff like that or like this Bourne Ultimatum, Casino Royale, Mission Impossible, FMJ,.....

Also you shouldn't really watch BL for character. Killers don't have emotions (well not the same ones "normal" people have). That's one of the things BL is teaching you. Their violent world is different from our peaceful normal world and BL attempts to portray the comparison between the two best they can. Of course because its a cartoon it is exaggerated a bit. Only characters the anime really explores are Rock and Remy. Everyone else are just mindless killing machines that say "I kill because thats just how it is."

On regard to the characters you have only watched a couple of episodes and usually, and I mean usually in a show characters change over time so if I were you I wouldn't really think that what you see is what you get right away. I'm not going to go more depth it's for you to see how they develop.

I agree. I am up to episode 10, and I am certainly enjoying the plot. There is a bit of character development, but the story itself is what is keeping me hooked. Overall, it's a good series that I do not regret owning, and I will probably pick up the second season.

I hope you do pick up Second Barrage. That season has Hiroe's strongest chapters animated so far, Fujiyama Gangsta Paradise. Has all the character development and great storytelling you would want.

This is an amazing anime series and I can't wait for more. Does anyone have any idea of whether the new Black Lagoon stuff will be dubbed in English or not?

I'd say the possibility of a dub is likely. Amongst all of Geneon's licenses, I personally think this and Hellsing Ultimate were among my favorite dubs. The only question is, if someone like say.. FUNimation were to pick up the license from Geneon, would they craptize it with in-house dubbing to save money or would they actually go through the trouble of hiring Ocean Vancouver to continue their high-quality work? Oh, the irony that was once DBZ...

I was wondering the same thing when they dubbed Eva 1.11.
Well, Funimation did go through the trouble of getting the Slayers cast back together for the new seasons. And at least one (there may be more, but this is the only one I am aware of)voice actor who rarely, if ever, worked on Funimation shows was Crispin Freeman. So I have confidence that they would dub Hellsing and Black Lagoon either at Ocean like you said, or just do their own dubbing using the original cast. At least I hope so. Can you picture someone other than crispin Freeman voicing Alucard? I don't even want to think about that Crying or Very sad .
