Hi, I was wondering: are there are any plans on releasing the complete collection of FMA DVDs in one box or any plans on a thin pack release?

The series isn't even done releasing (Individual volume) yet, so I don't think there are any plans to put out a boxset. Not only that the individual volumes sell very well, and so there isn't any point for a boxset. As for a thin-pack not for several years down the road, at least I hope so. I say this because I have bought every volumes of the series, and if Funi was to do this it was make me extremely pissed off. After I spent over 200+ dollars for this series, if they were to release a thin-pack (In the very near future that is) I would be (and probably lots of others) would be so mad at them. Not to mention there are lots of fans upset with Funi because of the Fullmetal alchemist being released in theater (Locations that is) and as well as the special edition only available at certain location. Considering that Funimation has released approximately zero thinpacks up till now, I wouldn't hold your breath on that one.
AnswerMan's Answer If you want FMA sometime in the next few years, you'll probably have to fork over money for the single discs, and additional shelving if necessary. |

LOL Funmation and thinpak, yeah right. And if Funimation do release boxset, expect either 2 or 3 boxset for the complete collection. |

Does anyone know what the Blue Gender and... damn I forgot the name of the anime but its about this one girl who fights with lipstick, i think her name is clair... but anyway I think that those boxes may be digipacks. Another thing that FUNimation has done is re-release the series in 2 disc volumes. I know they did this with with that lipstick show and Tenchi [GXP?]. I know Bandai did it with s-CRY-ed, but that has nothing to do with this topic. Is anyone else getting tired of this question? Even Answerman responded to it. |

Yeah that one is it. As you can probably tell, I've never seen the series. But a box set similar to the Blue Gender one came out not too long ago... unless it was a collection with the three 2-Disc sets but I doubt it. |

Interesting because I've seen up to volume 4 of the series, and have tried to look for the DVD's beyond that number, and haven't been able to find them either at Game Stop or at retailers, be them online or not.

If they made an FMA thin pack box set some time in the near future, I would...die. So far, I have volumes 1-8, so I've spent a good $160 on the series. I know some people have spent even more (by paying higher prices and/or owning more volumes than me), so they'd be even more pissed, but it'd still be piss off, too.

You know, they were discussing that in one of the recent ANswermans, and I thought that was interesting. It would be dumb and disrespectful to the fans/customers if they were to release the last volume and then the boxset. It'd make a lot of people upset, like you would be. |

They sell anime at GameStop? Like Boxsets? But seriously if they do could you post/pm me like what do they sell, since all I could come up with on their site is Red Vs Blue Seasons..... Fighterholic brings up the good point if after they release the final DVD and then immediately pack it into a boxset, people who've actually bought every DVD wouldn't be too glad, since it cost them twice or triple the amount to buy each DVD seperately. In my opinion if a set were to have 12 DVDs, they should release them in groups of 3 or 4. This way people who buy them seperately can have the satisfaction or 3 or 4 box sets next to each other. Atleast, that would make me pay the extra money. Of course, the price should only be 10-25$ more. |

[OT] - GameStop sells anime used at their local stores. I doubt you can find any used anime from their internet site. I've picked up many titles considering they have such cheap prices and many promotion. Most of the time they have "Buy 2 Used and Get 1 Free". I think they currently have "Buy 3 $5.99 titles for $10. 3 $9.99 titles for $20. 3 $12.99 titles for $30." Much better prices than the Suncoast used program or any other Used program for that matter. |

This raises a kind of awkward issue for me about boxsets, but everyone else here is generally right.
Something liiike I don't know, Gokusen, Genshiken, all kinds of other things that rely on a niche market, it's generally a bad idea to reease such a cheap boxset or one at all after the individual volumes. However, for fans who aren't nessecerally going to be in to 'all' anime (the ones who watch stuff on CN, etc) then I fail to see what the harm is in releasing say, a 'collected' volume only a few months after. Say the first set, volumes 1-5, get released. once that's done, wait a few months, and when volume 6 comes out, put out a brick of the first five volumes, though don't retain non-disc extras like Booklets or whatever else (or even just a condensed booklet, if you're paticularly pick about it). Hell, release it as a brick, charge maybe $5-10 bucks worth less of the original 5 volume price (that can count towards less paper/extra content being used) and release is with volume six. That way, you're satisfying those who want to adopt the single volumes, and those who want to buy condensed collections, but you're not systematically pissing off those who dumped $250 for a series or something, because those getting those boxed sets are only paying like, $20 or so less than you. Of course, after 2-3 years, you put out a boxset which is like the single volumes, only with the price at like, 2/3rds or a half or whatever else. Just a thought! Addendum: What FUNimation needs to realise is that a lot of people don't think like they'd want them to. In this day and age, unfair or not, absolutely everything is avalable for 'free' on the internet. Not releasing a boxset doesn't 'encourage' people, generally, to buy single volumes which usually are seen as more 'expensive' than a boxset, no, it just encourages them to go and grab fansubs or R1 DVD rips or whatever. While it's their property and their shots, I would honestly think it's worth giving some consideration to those who work differently. Well I recectly saw on funi website that they are coming out with a Tenchi Muyo! GXP box set. Unless that is like the other 2 disc sets.
